Skoda Kamiq fog sensor issue affecting multiple systems

I am experiencing a rather peculiar issue with my Skoda Kamiq diesel. An error related to the fog sensor is persistently stored. Strangely, this seems to be affecting several other systems: the air conditioning system refuses to switch on, the spray nozzles are frozen even in relatively mild cold temperatures, and the mirror heating is non-functional. Could the fog sensor really be the culprit behind all this? Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug connection as a likely cause.

That's quite a list of symptoms. It sounds like more than just a faulty sensor, doesn’t it? I had a similar electrical issue with my Volvo a while back affecting multiple seemingly unrelated systems. Did you check the relevant fuses? A blown fuse can sometimes cause a cascade of problems.

I haven't checked the fuses yet, to be honest. Where exactly would I find the fuse for the fog sensor in the Kamiq? And would a blown fuse really cause all those problems, even with the air conditioning and mirror heating?

Yes, in my case it was indeed the fuse. However, considering you've already identified a potential cable or plug issue, and the fact that so many systems are affected, it might be more complex. I would recommend getting it checked by a professional to rule out any deeper underlying electrical issue. A proper diagnostic check should pinpoint it rather quickly.

I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed the cable issue with the fog sensor. The visibility is great again, the climate control works as intended, and the heating in the mirrors works too. The final bill came in at 95€ – exactly what I expected.
