Skoda Kamiq NOx Catalyst Error and Possible Exhaust Leak

The exhaust leak isn't super obvious, but I have noticed a slight smell sometimes. You mentioned oxygen sensors being thrown off. Could that really cause the NOx catalyst to appear aged prematurely in the car diagnostics? I thought those sensors were more for fuel trim and general engine management.

Absolutely, a small exhaust leak before the catalytic converter can wreak havoc. The engine control unit (ECU) relies on those oxygen sensors to precisely measure the air/fuel ratio. If there's a leak, unmetered air gets into the exhaust, and the sensors report a lean condition. The ECU then compensates by adding more fuel, which can overload the NOx catalyst and make it appear aged or inefficient in car diagnostics. Given your symptoms and the exhaust leak suspicion, I'd bet money on that being the root cause. I'd advise taking it to a reputable workshop to confirm and fix the leak. It's the most likely issue in the emissions system.

Just wanted to let you know, you were right. The workshop confirmed a small leak in the exhaust system. Repairing it plus a new gasket cost 265€. Thanks again for your help!

Whoa, NOx storage catalyst issues on a relatively new Skoda Kamiq? That's unusual. It sounds like you've already done some car diagnostics, which is great. A leak in the exhaust system could definitely be the issue, as it messes with the oxygen sensors and throws off the whole emissions system's balance. Think of it like trying to bake a cake with a hole in your oven – the temperature won't be right, and things won't cook evenly. Is the exhaust leak noticeable? Can you hear it, or smell exhaust fumes more strongly than usual?
