Skoda Kamiq Oil Pressure Warning Lamp

Okay, I'm officially freaking out. My 2020 Skoda Kamiq with a diesel engine is giving me grief. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and there's this awful loud mechanical noise coming from the engine. It's done 228481 km. Could this be a faulty oil pressure sensor? I'm really hoping it's not something major...

Low oil pressure in a Kamiq can be serious. Have you checked for any signs of oil leakage around the engine? Also, what engine oil viscosity are you currently using?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't noticed any oil leakage, but I'll double-check. As for the engine oil, I'm not entirely sure what viscosity is in there at the moment. How would the wrong oil viscosity cause low oil pressure?

I had a similar experience with my Kamiq. The low oil pressure and engine noise pointed to a defect in the oil pump. It's best to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis to confirm.

Took it to the shop and you were spot on. Turns out the oil pump was faulty. Cost me 755€ to get it sorted, but at least my Kamiq is running smoothly again. Thanks for the heads up!
