Skoda Karoq Diesel Engine Issues

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My Skoda Karoq built in 2023 with a diesel engine is giving me some grief. It's done 86351 km. The check engine light came on and I've noticed a serious drop in power. It feels like the engine is struggling, especially when accelerating. There's also a strange whistling noise, and I can hear a loud hissing sound when I put my foot down. Sometimes, the engine even stalls when I'm idling. Fuel consumption seems to be up too. From what I've read, it could be an actuator fault or a boost leak somewhere. Could it be the boost pressure actuator valve? Any ideas?

A whistling noise and hissing on acceleration definitely sounds like a boost leak. The reduced power and engine stalling could point to a boost control issue too. Have you checked for any obvious leaks in the hoses connected to the turbo? Is the whistling constant or only under load?

I had a quick look but couldn't see anything obvious. Where exactly should I be looking for a boost leak? Is there a specific hose or area that's more prone to this on the Karoq? Also, what do you mean by 'under load'?

If you can't spot any obvious damage to the hoses, it might be internal to the turbo or related to the actuator valve itself. 'Under load' means when the engine is working harder, like when accelerating or going uphill. Given the symptoms and mileage, especially the stalling, it does sound like a potential actuator fault or a more serious boost leak that's affecting boost control. At this point, getting it checked by a workshop is probably the best course of action.

Took it to a local shop, and they confirmed the electrical bypass valve was defective, like you suspected. The actuator fault was triggering the boost leak and all the other issues. Got it replaced for 250€ and the Karoq is running like new again. Thanks for the help!
