Skoda Karoq Diesel Engine Power Loss

Alright, you mechanically-minded gurus, I'm at my wit's end! My 2020 Skoda Karoq, diesel engine, is playing up big time. I've got reduced power, rough engine running, and it's jerking like crazy when I accelerate. Plus, fuel consumption has gone through the roof. Engine light is on, naturally. Plugged in a diagnostic tool, and it's pointing to an intake manifold flap control problem. Reckon it's a defective switch intake manifold control causing airflow control issues. Anyone else had this drama? What am I looking at here?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Skoda Karoq diesel engine is experiencing power loss, rough running, and increased fuel consumption, with the engine light on. Diagnostic tools indicate an issue with the intake manifold flap control, likely causing airflow control problems. A similar case was resolved by replacing the intake manifold flap control, which restored engine performance and eliminated the power loss. Seeking professional mechanical assistance is recommended for this issue.

Sounds familiar. I have a Skoda Karoq, though not sure about the year, and I had something similar happen. Engine light came on, felt like I was driving a tractor. Did you notice any hissing sound when you put your foot down?

Hissing sound, eh? Now that you mention it, there was a definite loud hissing when accelerating, especially uphill. Did yours do that too? And did that fix the reduced power?

Yep, the hissing was exactly the same. Like a punctured tyre under the bonnet! And yeah, replacing the intake manifold flap control sorted it completely. The reduced power vanished, and the engine ran smoothly again. I'd say get it checked out by a decent mechanic. It’s not something you want to mess with yourself unless you really know what you're doing.

Appreciate you sharing your experience. Turns out you were spot on. Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the intake manifold flap control. Cost me 465€ to get it sorted, but the Karoq is running sweet again. No more engine misfire, full power restored. Cheers!
