Skoda Karoq Diesel Engine Troubles

I'm at my wit's end. My 2017 Skoda Karoq diesel is throwing a tantrum. Engine refuses to start sometimes, then stalls at idle when it does. Check engine light is on, runs rough, and the fuel consumption has gone through the roof. Error memory says fuel pump defective. I'm thinking it's a bad cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like a fuel issue alright. I had similar engine stalling problems with my old Renault Megane, also a diesel. Check your fuel injector too, could be clogged.

Fuel injector, huh? Interesting. The error code pointed to the fuel pump though. Could a dodgy fuel injector really cause the engine stalling and pump failure symptoms, or is it more likely the pump itself?

Well, in my case, it turned out the fuel injector issue was causing the pump to work overtime, eventually leading to its failure. If the error code points directly to the pump and you're also seeing cable issues, it's best to get it checked by a workshop. Might save you from replacing the entire fuel system.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, they checked the fuel pump and the cable connection was indeed faulty. 95€ later and she's running like new. Thanks for the help!
