Skoda Karoq Diesel Overvoltage Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Karoq diesel is experiencing overvoltage issues, leading to system failures and starting difficulties. The initial suspicion is a heavily discharged or defective battery, but there is concern about a potential ECU issue or alternator failure causing a power surge. After professional evaluation, the problem is confirmed to be a defective battery, which, once replaced, resolves the overvoltage and electrical issues.

I haven't specifically checked the alternator output. I've only visually inspected the battery and wiring for obvious damage. Could a faulty alternator cause intermittent overvoltage even with a relatively new battery

Yes, a faulty alternator is the most likely culprit. Mine was putting out too much voltage intermittently, which damaged the battery and triggered all sorts of errors. I'd recommend getting it checked professionally

The workshop confirmed a defective battery was causing the overvoltage and electrical issues. Replacement cost was 290€. Everything seems to be working now. Thanks for the help

Sounds familiar. I had a similar electrical issue with my Karoq. Lots of warning lights and systems failing. Have you checked the alternator output
