Skoda Karoq Engine Starting Problem

I am experiencing an issue with my 2022 Skoda Karoq, gasoline engine. The engine does not start, and I suspect an engine control malfunction. I haven't observed any engine surge or seen the engine light illuminate prior to this. Could this be an ECU failure, perhaps related to engine software?

A 2022 Karoq, engine trouble already? It could be several things. Have you checked the battery connections? A loose connection can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins, including the symptoms you describe. Intermittent power can definitely trigger an ECU issue.

Regarding the battery connections, what exactly should I be looking for? Is there a specific way to test them?

Check for corrosion, looseness, and proper tightening of the terminals. While a full diagnostic requires tools, a visual inspection for obvious issues is a good start. It's possible the ECU is fine, but a poor connection is preventing it from functioning. If the connections appear sound, it might be best to have it professionally diagnosed, they can pinpoint an ECU issue much better.

Thank you for your insights. It turned out to be a loose battery cable connection, as you suspected. Cleaning and tightening the connections resolved the issue. Total cost was 155€.
