Skoda Karoq Poor Fuel Efficiency and Starting Issues

I'm at my wit's end with my 2020 Skoda Karoq with a gasoline engine! It's got 150901 km on the clock, and lately, it's been acting up. First off, the fuel consumption has gone through the roof. Secondly, starting the vehicle has become a nightmare. I'm thinking it might be a defective throttle valve. I've been reading that a faulty accelerator pedal module can cause these symptoms. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm open to suggestions before I take it to the shop!

That sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Karoq. Started noticing my fuel efficiency tanking, and it was a real struggle to get it started in the mornings. Did you try throttle cleaning? That helped a bit for me initially.

Throttle cleaning, huh? Interesting. How extensive of a cleaning are we talking about? Did you remove the whole throttle body, or just spray some cleaner in there? And did you see any improvement in your engine idle after cleaning?

I just used some throttle body cleaner and a rag, nothing too crazy. It smoothed out the engine idle a little bit, but the poor starting and fuel efficiency came back pretty quick. Honestly, based on what you're describing, it does sound like the throttle valve or accelerator pedal. I'd say get it checked out by a professional; could save you a headache in the long run.

Took it to the shop as you suggested. The accelerator pedal module was indeed the problem. New part and labor cost me about 205€. Fuel efficiency seems back to normal, and it starts like a champ again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
