Skoda Karoq Power Steering Problem

I'm experiencing issues with the power steering function on my 2017 Skoda Karoq with a diesel engine. The steering wheel vibrates and feels spongy. The error memory has also stored an error. Steering requires increased effort, indicating possible power steering failure. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug connection. Any insights?

That sounds concerning. I had a similar issue with my old Octavia, though the symptoms were slightly different. Have you checked the wheel alignment recently? Sometimes that can cause vibrations, although it wouldn't explain the error code.

Wheel alignment was checked during the last service. Could a faulty steering pump also cause these symptoms, or is that unlikely in this case, considering the error message points towards an electrical issue?

Given the error code and your description, I suspect the electrical connection issue is the more likely culprit. While a failing steering pump could cause similar symptoms, it usually presents differently. If the diagnostics point to a wiring issue in the electric steering system, it's probably best to take it to a workshop to have it properly inspected.

The problem was a faulty plug connection. The repair set me back 95€. Thanks for the help.
