Skoda Kodiaq Diesel Engine Trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Skoda Kodiaq diesel experienced poor engine starts, stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light at 165,631 km. The initial suspicion was a faulty camshaft position sensor. A workshop visit confirmed the issue, revealing a defective encoder wheel on the camshaft. After repair, the vehicle resumed normal operation.

The engine management light is on, but I haven't checked for an error code. Where is the camshaft position sensor located, and can I test the sensor myself with basic tools?

P0341 would confirm the camshaft position correlation. Sensor testing is possible with a multimeter and wiring diagrams. Considering the symptoms and potential engine misfire if the camshaft position isn't read accurately, risking engine control, I'd recommend a reputable workshop. It's likely a faulty camshaft position sensor.

The workshop visit confirmed the camshaft position sensor was the issue. The encoder wheel on the camshaft was defective. The repair set me back 695€, but my Kodiaq is running smoothly now. Thanks for the assistance.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Kodiaq. A faulty camshaft position sensor could be the reason. Is the engine management light on, maybe with a P0341 error code? Have you checked the sensor wiring?
