Skoda Kodiaq engine running rough
Summary of the thread
The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq was experiencing rough engine performance, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The issue was suspected to be a coil failure, possibly due to a faulty connection or old spark plugs. Diagnostics confirmed a misfire on cylinder 3, leading to the replacement of a defective ignition coil and spark plug, resolving the problem.

Spark plugs haven’t been changed since I bought the car. Vehicle diagnostics said misfire on cylinder 3. Could it really be just a bad connection? I find it hard to believe.

Misfire on cylinder 3 pretty much confirms it. A bad connection at the coil is a common cause, especially if the spark plug is old too. Given the symptoms, it’s likely the coil itself has failed. I would recommend taking it to a workshop.

You nailed it. The workshop confirmed a defective ignition coil. They replaced it and the spark plug, the plug connection was faulty. It cost me 95€, but the engine runs smoothly again. Thanks for your help.

Rough running and stalling on a 2021 Kodiaq? Sounds like a coil failure. When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? Misfire codes can be triggered by faulty plugs too, or even just a loose cable. Have you done any vehicle diagnostics?
