Skoda Kodiaq Lighting Fault

My 2018 Skoda Kodiaq gasoline, with 181615 km, has a fault in the lighting. The lights switch on, and an error is stored in error memory. The likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection.

Your issue sounds strikingly similar to one I encountered with my Kodiaq. The dashboard lights behaved erratically, and the car switch controlling the lighting was definitely at fault. Did you by any chance observe any flickering of the lights prior to the complete failure? Have you checked for any blown fuses in the system? Fuses are designed to protect the electrical circuits from overcurrent, preventing damage to components. Also, can you describe the exact error code stored in the error memory? That would be very helpful in narrowing down the root cause.

Flickering, no. Fuses are fine. The error code points to the light switch itself, but diagnostics suggest a connection issue. Did you replace the entire light switch assembly?

I experienced a similar diagnostic outcome. I would advise against immediately replacing the entire light switch. Given the error code and diagnostic suggestion, a defective cable or plug connection of the component is highly probable. In my case, the workshop confirmed it was a faulty connection. I recommend having a qualified technician inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the car lighting system before opting for a complete replacement. This approach might save you unnecessary expenses. Proceed to the workshop.

Confirmed resolution. Defective cable/plug connection. 95€ repair. Thanks for the insight.
