Skoda Kodiaq RS Diesel problems (model year 2019) with the navigation system screen

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2019 Skoda Kodiaq (diesel, 218,765 km). The navigation system no longer works, I suspect a screen failure. Has anyone had similar experiences and can recommend the best way to get this fixed? Maybe also tips for a good garage after a bad experience last time? Thank you!

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Skoda Kodiaq RS Diesel owner is experiencing issues with the navigation system, suspecting a screen failure. A similar case with a 2016 Skoda Octavia revealed that a defective cable connection between the control unit and the display caused the navigation system to fail. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked by professionals, possibly requiring partial dashboard dismantling to repair the connection. Seeking a second opinion from a different garage or a Skoda specialist is advised, especially after a previous negative experience.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Skoda Octavia. In my case, the cable connection between the control unit and the display was defective, which caused the navigation system to fail. At the workshop, it was determined that it was a bad connection. The technicians had to partially dismantle the dashboard to access the cable connection and repair it. It was a time-consuming job because the wiring in modern cars is quite complex, but afterwards everything worked perfectly again. It was a serious matter because without the sat nav, other functions were also impaired. It could be similar with your car, so I would definitely have it checked by professionals. However, I would advise you to get a second opinion, especially if you've had a bad experience at the garage recently. Maybe ask another garage or a Skoda specialist. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the info! Sounds like a similar thing really. Can I ask how much you ended up paying for the repair? And had anything else become noticeable with your Octavia since then? Best regards!

Hey, of course, no problem! After I went to the garage, the problem with the navigation system screen failure was actually fixed. The cost was exactly €165 to repair the cable connection between the control unit and the display. It turned out that it was simply a bad connection. Since then, my Octavia has been running perfectly again and I've had no further problems with the sat nav or other systems. I hope this helps you! If you have any other questions, please let me know. Best regards!

Hi again, thanks for the quick feedback. 165 € doesn't sound too bad. I would probably invest that if the problem really is completely fixed afterwards. After having a very negative experience at the garage last time, I'm now more cautious. I'll probably look for a second garage and ask them directly. I hope it goes as smoothly there as it did for you. I'll definitely let you know how it turns out! Best regards!
