Skoda Octavia Diesel Engine Power Loss

I am writing to seek some guidance regarding an issue I've encountered with my 2014 Skoda Octavia diesel. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and I've observed a noticeable reduction in engine power accompanied by higher fuel consumption. Preliminary investigations suggest a potential problem with the exhaust temperature sensor. Could a leak in the exhaust system indeed trigger such symptoms?

Sounds like a similar issue I had with my Skoda Octavia. The exhaust sensor can be quite sensitive. Have you noticed any temperature fluctuation readings?

Temperature fluctuation? I haven't been actively monitoring that. Where would I typically observe such fluctuations, and how would that relate to the emission control system?

Yes, definitely. In my case, the temperature sensor was faulty, which triggered the check engine light and affected the engine's performance. I suggest getting it checked by a professional to confirm the diagnosis and proceed with sensor replacement.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I took your advice and had the car checked at a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, likely caused by a small leak. The sensor replacement cost 265€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue permanently.
