Skoda Octavia Diesel Glow Plug Issue

I am officially pulling my hair out My 2021 Skoda Octavia diesel is giving me grief. The preheating lamp refuses to turn off, the check engine light is illuminated, and the error memory is screaming about a glow plug issue. Could it really just be a defective glow plug It starts okay-ish, but I am worried about the long term, especially with winter coming

Sounds very much like what happened with my Octavia though mine's an older model. The glow plug warning light stayed on and the check engine light popped up too. The glow plugs help with the diesel combustion, especially in cold weather, kind of like a little match to get the fire going. Have you tried reading the error code

Interesting analogy And yes, I did read the error code. It points directly to a glow plug malfunction. Was your issue also the glow plug itself, or could it be something else, like a faulty sensor or the glow plug relay

It turned out to be the glow plug itself. The mechanic said they sometimes fail due to wear and tear, especially at higher mileages. He checked the relay and wiring to be sure, but the plug was the culprit. If the error code is pointing directly at the glow plug, and the symptoms match, it's highly probable that's your problem too. I suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked out properly

You were spot on I took it to the local garage, and it was indeed a faulty glow plug. It is all sorted now, and cost me 440€ including labor. Thanks a bunch for your help
