Skoda Octavia Diesel Preheating Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2012 Skoda Octavia diesel. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off, and the check engine light is on. Plus, I'm seeing smoke when I accelerate. Could this be a defective heating module? I suspect it might be the cable or plug connection.

Sounds like a faulty preheater control unit. I had a similar issue with my Octavia. The preheating lamp wouldn't go off, and the check engine light appeared. Did you check the cable and plug connections? That's often the cause.

Thanks for the quick reply! How did you determine it was the control unit and cable connections? Did you need special tools to check the car electronics?

I didn't determine it myself. I took it to a workshop. They diagnosed it quickly. I'd recommend doing the same if you aren't comfortable checking the preheater yourself. It could save you hassle.

I wanted to share that the workshop confirmed it was the preheating control unit. Replacement cost was 95€. Thanks for the assistance.
