Thanks for the response. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet. I'll get the error code. What are the risks of control unit reprogramming? Could there be data loss or incompatibility with other systems?

If done by a competent technician, the risks of control unit reprogramming are minimal. Data loss is unlikely because they usually back things up first. Incompatibility is also rare if they use the right software version for your car and engine. The navigation issue and error memory point to the control module, so a software reset at the workshop is the right move.

I appreciate the insights. I consulted a workshop as suggested. The error memory indicated a programming issue with the control unit. After reprogramming, the navigation system is now working. The cost was in the predicted range. Thanks for the help.

The symptoms, especially the electrical malfunction, navigation failure, and stored error, suggest a problem with the ECU or control modules. Have you tried a system reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes? This sometimes clears errors. Also, what's the specific error code? Has there been any recent electrical or software work?
