Skoda Octavia Hybrid Fog Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Skoda Octavia hybrid was experiencing a fog sensor error, leading to non-functional air conditioning, frozen spray nozzles, and mirror heating issues. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. After checking the fuses and considering a broader electrical issue, a workshop confirmed the problem was indeed with the cable connection to the fog sensor. The issue was resolved for the estimated repair cost, restoring all affected systems to full functionality.

Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't checked the fuses yet, I'll definitely give that a shot. Regarding the dashboard warning, it's constantly on. Do you think a faulty fog sensor could really cause all these issues, or is it more likely that the sensor error is just a symptom of a larger problem with the car's electrical system?

Given the constant dashboard warning and the wide range of affected systems, I suspect the fog sensor error is indeed a symptom of a broader electrical issue. While a faulty sensor can certainly cause problems, it's less likely to disable completely unrelated features like mirror heating and AC. Since you suspect a cable or plug issue and the dashboard warning is constantly on, I'd recommend a thorough diagnostic check by a qualified technician. It's hard to say definitively without hands-on inspection, but it's likely you'll need to visit a workshop to properly diagnose and repair the root cause of this problem.

It was the cable connection to the fog sensor. The workshop confirmed the electrical issue and sorted it out for the quoted 95€. Everything's working perfectly now – AC, mirror heating, the works. Thanks a lot for your help!

That's quite a list of symptoms stemming from a fog sensor! It sounds like you're dealing with more than just windshield fogging. The fact that your air conditioning and mirror heating are affected suggests a deeper electrical issue. Have you checked the fuses related to the climate control system and mirror heating? It's possible a faulty fuse is causing the sensor to throw an error and disabling other components. Also, is the dashboard warning light constantly on, or does it appear intermittently?
