That's interesting. Did you also have trouble starting the car and with the cruise control? Where should I look for the wiring and plug? Is it easy to get to, or do I need to take some stuff off?

Yes, the starting issue and cruise control not working are common with a bad clutch pedal switch. It stops the engine from starting as a safety thing and turns off cruise control because the system doesn't know if the clutch is engaged. On my Volvo, the switch was near the top of the clutch pedal. You might need to remove a panel under the dash to see it better. But, if you're not comfortable with car electrics, I wouldn't try to fix it yourself. It's probably best to get it checked out at a garage.

Just a quick word, the workshop confirmed the clutch pedal switch was the problem. The quote was 95€, which seems reasonable. Thanks for the help, it really narrowed things down!

The symptoms you're describing do sound like a clutch pedal switch issue. It's a key safety feature, especially on hybrids. I had a similar electrical problem with my Volvo XC60. The car stalled a lot, and the gear selector was playing up. Have you looked at the wiring and plug going to the switch? A loose connection can cause these kinds of random problems.
