Skoda Octavia Power Window Problem

Okay, I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2008 Skoda Octavia with a gasoline engine has decided it no longer wants to play nice with its power windows. I recently swapped out the battery, and now none of the windows will budge. The window switch seems dead. I've scanned for errors, and sure enough, it's throwing a window regulator initialization error. Car electronics are usually my thing, but this has got me stumped! Any ideas before I set this thing on fire?

I had a similar issue on my Octavia after replacing the battery. The power window module often loses its settings. You need to reinitialize the window regulators.

Reinitialize? Is that something I can do myself, or am I looking at a trip to the car shop? Any special tools required? I've tried holding the window switch up for a few seconds, but that didn't seem to do the trick.

Holding the switch usually works, but sometimes it does not. If the simple reset isn't working, the car needs to be connected to a diagnostic tool to perform the window reset properly. You likely need to visit a workshop.

Alright, that's the route I'm taking. Dropped it off at the shop this morning. They confirmed the window regulator needed a proper reset with their fancy computer. 290€ later, all windows are working perfectly again. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
