Skoda Octavia Rain Light Sensor Problem

I'm experiencing some issues with my 2013 Skoda Octavia, diesel engine. The rain-light sensor seems to be faulty. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory. The automatic wiping mode in the rain is not working, and the automatic headlight control is also not functioning. Furthermore, the speedometer dimming is not working, and the lights switch on unexpectedly. Any ideas?

The symptoms described strongly suggest a malfunctioning rain-light sensor. Given the error memory and lack of automatic functions, the sensor is likely the culprit. Have you inspected the windshield area around the sensor for any visible obstructions or damage?

I inspected the windshield, and I noticed some small bubbles forming under the gel pad where the sensor is located. Could this be the cause of the malfunctioning sensor?

Yes, the bubbles forming under the gel pad are the most likely cause of the rain detection and light sensor problems. This is a known issue. The bubbles interfere with the sensor's ability to accurately detect light and moisture. I would recommend replacement of the sensor at a workshop.

Alright, the workshop confirmed the diagnosis. Bubbles had formed under the gel pad, causing the rain-light sensor to malfunction. The repair was exactly 62€. Thanks!
