Skoda Octavia weak battery and flickering lights

I have a 2009 Skoda Octavia, gasoline engine, with 147718 km. I'm experiencing a weak car battery when starting the engine and flickering lights. I suspect a faulty battery sensor is causing incorrect battery health readings. Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia a while ago. The symptoms sound familiar. Have you checked the battery voltage when the engine is running? A faulty sensor can give incorrect readings, which affects the battery charge.

Thanks, that's helpful. Where is the battery sensor located? Is it easy to test its functionality without specialized equipment?

The sensor is usually integrated into the negative terminal of the car battery. Testing it accurately requires a multimeter and knowledge of electrical systems. Considering the symptoms and the potential risk of damaging the electrical system, I suggest taking it to a qualified workshop for diagnosis.

The workshop confirmed the battery sensor was faulty after running diagnostics. Replacement and recalibration set me back 315€. Battery health seems normal now. Thanks for your insight.
