Skoda Praktik air con issues

I had similar AC unit issues with my Praktik. The AC compressor wouldn't engage, and the vehicle HVAC system was throwing error codes. In my case, the auto refrigerant pressure was fine. Have you checked the AC compressor clutch relay? It's a common failure point. Also, inspect the wiring harness for any damage or corrosion. A faulty connection can prevent the AC compressor from receiving power. A diagnostic scan might pinpoint the fault, but sometimes it requires a bit of detective work.

For example, testing the relay with a multimeter to see if it's functioning correctly. If the relay is good, you'd then check the wiring for continuity and shorts. If you're not comfortable with electrical testing, I'd advise taking it to a workshop. 980€ is indeed a hefty price. Unfortunately, with auto AC repair, AC compressor and refrigerant work, costs can escalate quickly.
