Skoda Praktik Camshaft Sensor Error

I have a 2009 Skoda Praktik with a diesel engine. Recently, it's been starting poorly and feels like it has reduced engine power. I scanned it, and it shows a camshaft sensor error. Could this be a cable or plug issue? Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty camshaft position sensor. I had a similar issue with my Praktik (though not the same year). Rough starts, felt like it was struggling for power, and the engine light was on. Did you check the wiring and the connector itself? Sometimes it's just a loose or corroded connection. Is the crankshaft sensor ok?

Yeah, the symptoms you described are spot on! Where exactly is the camshaft position sensor located, and is it easy to check the wiring? Is it something I can do myself, or do I need special tools?

It is a bit fiddly to get to without proper tools, and honestly, messing with timing issues and automotive sensor problems can be risky if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing. If the wiring looks okay, it might just be the sensor itself has failed. Given the symptoms and error code, is it really worth the hassle? Personally, I'd take it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed. Save yourself the frustration!

Thanks a lot for your help! It was indeed the camshaft sensor. The garage replaced it, and the final bill was 95€. Runs like new now!
