Skoda Praktik Engine Issue

Thanks for your quick response. Misfire codes, yes, those were present. How difficult is it to check the wiring to the sensor? Is it something I can do myself, or should I leave it to the professionals? Also, is there a way to confirm if the timing chain needs replacing? Is there a specific mileage when it is usually done?

Checking the wiring is straightforward, but be cautious. Visually inspect for damage, loose connections, or corrosion. If you're not comfortable, leave it to a pro. As for the timing chain, it's tougher to diagnose without proper tools. If the sensor replacement doesn't fix it, then consider a chain inspection. Is it worth messing with it yourself and potentially making it worse? A workshop can give you a definitive answer. Good luck!

The workshop confirmed a defective crankshaft sensor. They replaced it, and after clearing the error codes, the car runs smoothly again. The total bill came to 340€. Thanks for the advice; it helped me understand what was going on and what to expect.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Praktik. Check engine light, sluggish performance... Was it throwing any misfire codes too? I'd put money on the crank sensor being the culprit, especially with those symptoms. The timing chain could be a factor, but at that mileage, it's more likely the sensor is just failing. Have you checked the wiring to the sensor?
