Skoda Praktik Engine Issues

I'm at my wit's end with my 2008 Skoda Praktik! The check engine light came on a few weeks ago, and the car feels like it has lost a lot of power. I've also noticed some smoke when I accelerate, which is definitely not normal. My car has only 82242 km. After doing some research, I suspect it might be the crankcase ventilation valve. Could this be the PCV valve causing all these issues? Has anyone experienced something similar? It's a gasoline engine by the way. I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can fix myself or if I should take it to a professional.

Thanks for the quick response! Rough idling isn't really an issue, it's more noticeable when accelerating, especially uphill. When you had this problem, were you able to drive the car at all, or was it completely undrivable? Also, where exactly is this PCV valve located? Yep, those symptoms match what I experienced almost exactly. I could still drive, but the power loss was significant, and the smoke was embarrassing.
