Skoda Praktik Oil Pressure Warning Light

I'm getting a bit stressed. My 2008 Skoda Praktik, diesel engine, has started showing a warning light in the speedometer. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up. Could this be engine damage? I've been reading about oil contamination and oil sludge, but I'm not sure where to start. Is this related to engine oil at all?

I see you're experiencing oil pressure issues. The oil pressure warning lamp lighting up is cause for concern. Is it possible your engine oil has become contaminated? I drive a Skoda Praktik too, and I encountered a similar issue some time ago.

Contaminated oil, eh? What makes you think that? What were your symptoms like and how did you diagnose the oil contamination?

Mine exhibited similar symptoms – the oil pressure light illuminated intermittently. I suspect you've exceeded the maintenance interval, leading to oil sludge and subsequent oil contamination. The only definitive way to know for certain is to have a mechanic inspect the oil. It’s advisable to seek professional assistance promptly to mitigate potential engine damage.

I took your advice and got it looked at. You were spot on! The oil was indeed contaminated due to exceeding the maintenance interval. It cost me 165€, but at least it's sorted now. Thanks for the help!
