Skoda Praktik Power Tailgate Issue

I'm experiencing an issue with the power tailgate on my 2009 Skoda Praktik with a gasoline engine. The vehicle has 217261 km on the clock. The tailgate does not open completely, and an error is stored in the error memory, indicating a hall sensor fault. My initial suspicion is a defective cable or plug connection related to the vehicle sensor. Any insights?

Interesting problem. I had a similar sensor fault issue with the power tailgate on my previous Volvo V70. The symptoms were slightly different, as mine would only open halfway. Have you checked the tailgate motor itself, or just looked at the diagnostic error code?

Thank you for the reply. I only read the error memory and saw the 'tailgate hall sensor fault' message. Where exactly should I be looking at within the tailgate motor assembly? Is there a specific sensor wiring harness known to be problematic?

In my case, the Volvo exhibited similar behavior due to corrosion within the sensor wiring connector that connected to the tailgate motor. Based on the diagnostic information you provided, the error code is indeed pointing to a sensor fault. Given the age of your Praktik, I would recommend having a workshop inspect the sensor wiring and connectors associated with the tailgate motor; that is where I would start. If the connections are corroded, the vehicle sensor may need replacing as well. At such low repair cost, it will likely be the electricals.

As predicted, the garage identified a defective sensor wiring at the tailgate motor. 95€ later, the power tailgate is functioning normally again. Thanks for your input!
