I'm not sure about the ignition timing, to be honest. How would I check that? And would lower fuel octane really cause such a noticeable issue?

Yes, lower fuel octane can definitely cause pre-ignition in some engines, especially if they're designed for higher octane. As for checking the ignition timing, that's a bit more involved and requires specialized tools. Considering the error code and symptoms, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a qualified mechanic. They can properly diagnose the issue and prevent further damage. It could be more serious than just fuel. I had the same issue before with a different car and it turned out to be a serious issue, leading to consequential damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop. Turned out to be carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, causing pre-ignition. They cleaned it out, and the car runs like new. Cost me 425€ but worth it to have my Praktik running smoothly again.

Sounds like you're experiencing engine knock, possibly detonation. Does your Praktik require high fuel octane? Try using premium fuel and see if the problem diminishes. Also, when was the last time you checked your ignition timing?
