Skoda Rapid Auxiliary Heater Problem

Okay, I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2020 Skoda Rapid, gasoline engine, with 236732 km on the clock, is giving me grief. The auxiliary heater refuses to start, and there's an error stored, related to the heating system. My car heater is basically useless. I suspect the glow plug, but I'm really hoping it's not a major climate control issue. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra a few years back. The parking heater wouldn't kick in, and it turned out to be a faulty glow plug messing with the heat control system. Does your error memory specifically mention the glow plug or any issues with the heating system?

Interesting! So, it could really be the glow plug? The error memory does point towards a malfunction in the auxiliary heater, but doesn't explicitly say 'glow plug'. Was it obvious on your Opel, or did they diagnose it with special equipment?

Yeah, on mine, they used a diagnostic tool to pinpoint it. While the error code hinted at the heating system, the tech was pretty sure it was the glow plug giving dodgy signals. Honestly, given your symptoms and error message, I'd bet money on it. Best bet is to take it to a workshop and get it properly diagnosed, especially with those newer heating systems. It's probably something simple, but messing around with the heating system can be a real headache.

Big thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you nailed it. The glow plug was indeed the culprit. 440€ later, the auxiliary heater is back in action. Much appreciated!
