Skoda Rapid Cruise Control Problem

My 2004 Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine has a cruise control problem. It simply stopped working. The error memory contains an error. Defective cable or plug connection of the component is suspected.

I also drive a Skoda Rapid, though I'm not sure about the build year offhand. I experienced a similar problem with my cruise control. It could be a multitude of things, truthfully, and diagnosing these electrical gremlins can be quite bothersome. Have you checked the fuse box for any blown fuses? It might also be prudent to examine the clock spring and the steering wheel controls themselves. It's difficult to say for certain without a proper diagnostic scan.

When you mention the clock spring, was the error also stored in the error memory? Is it worth visiting the workshop?

Yes, there was indeed an error stored. I must emphasize that these systems are complex, and without proper diagnostic equipment, you're essentially troubleshooting in the dark. It could indeed be the clock spring, or perhaps a more insidious wiring issue. While I hesitate to definitively recommend one course of action over another, given the potential for further complications, a visit to a qualified workshop might be the most prudent approach. They possess the necessary tools and expertise to accurately pinpoint the source of the malfunction, avoiding potentially costly and time-consuming self-repairs.

Thanks for the insights. It turned out to be a defective cable connection. The repair cost 95€.
