Skoda Rapid Diesel Engine Issues

My 2007 Skoda Rapid with a diesel engine is giving me some trouble. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and the engine is showing reduced power, poor response, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling. I suspect it's related to the fuel filter heater, possibly a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered this before?

I have a Skoda Rapid as well, though I'm not sure about the exact year. I experienced similar symptoms: rough idle, power loss, and a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency. The error memory also had a stored fault related to the fuel system. Have you checked the wiring harness and connectors leading to the fuel filter heater? A loose or corroded connection can cause these issues.

That's interesting. Did your Rapid also display these symptoms especially during cold starts? And was the error message specifically pointing to the fuel filter heater circuit?

Yes, my symptoms were most pronounced during cold starts. The error message indicated a fault in the fuel filter heater circuit. Given the symptoms and the error code, I would suggest visiting a workshop to have the wiring and connections thoroughly inspected. It's likely a simple fix, but best left to professionals to avoid further complications.

Thanks for the confirmation and insights. It was indeed the fuel filter heater connection. The workshop confirmed the defective cable and plug. Repair cost was 95€. Now the car runs smoothly again.
