Skoda Rapid Key Fob Battery Issue

My 2006 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine has 148840 km on it. I'm getting a key battery low warning, and keyless access isn't working. There's also an error stored. Unlocking and locking don't work right. I think the key battery is empty. Has anyone had this?

Those symptoms suggest a dead key battery. Do you have a spare car key to test? If the spare works, the primary key fob battery is the problem. Does the error memory specify the fob battery?

I do not have a spare key to test. How do I check the error memory for details regarding the fob battery?

Without a spare key, check the error memory. If it says low voltage for the fob battery, that's probably it. Like a flashlight dimming. If the error memory confirms low voltage, a new battery should fix it. If you're not comfortable checking the error memory, visit a workshop.

It was the key fob battery. The replacement was 37€. Everything is working now.
