Skoda Rapid sun blind issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with the sun blind in my 2005 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine. The sun blind, which is part of the interior accessory package, is stuck. It neither retracts nor extends, so the car blind is stuck in one position. The error memory also has a stored error. I suspect the sunshade repair will be costly. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm thinking it's probably the motor that's defective.

Hello. I had a similar issue with the sun blind on my Rapid. The sun visor wouldn't retract properly. It could be a faulty motor, as you suspect. Have you checked the error memory using an OBD2 scanner? Did it show any specific codes related to the sun blind or its motor?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I did check the error memory, and it shows an error related to the sun blind motor. You mentioned an OBD2 scanner, what does that mean?

You are welcome. An OBD2 scanner is a diagnostic tool used to read error codes from your car's computer. If the error code points to the sun blind motor, it's highly likely that's the issue. Given the symptoms and the error code, I would suggest visiting a workshop to have the motor replaced or the entire sun blind unit. It seems like a definitive diagnosis.

Thanks for the input! It sounds like it is indeed the motor. I got a quote from a local garage for 330€ to replace the whole sun blind unit, including labor. I think I'll go ahead with that.
