Skoda Roomster Diesel Engine Problem

Okay, so I'm freaking out a little. My 2010 Skoda Roomster with a diesel engine is acting up. The check engine light is on, and it feels like I'm driving with half the horsepower. Plus, there's some smoke coming out when I really step on the gas. I've only got 32290 km on the clock! Could it be a defective crankcase ventilation? Anyone else had this problem? Could a bad PCV cause all this?

Whoa, sounds like a familiar story! I had a similar problem with my Roomster – same symptoms, engine light and everything. It was the crankcase ventilation valve, or PCV valve as some call it. Basically, it's supposed to regulate the pressure in the crankcase, and when it goes bad, you can get all sorts of weird issues. Is your idle rough too?

Rough idle sometimes, yeah! PCV valve, huh? Where is that thing located, and is it a tough job to replace? I'm not a total noob, but I don't want to mess anything up. I've read something about maintenance and leak around the crankcase...

Yep, sounds like textbook PCV valve failure. I wouldn't recommend tackling it yourself unless you're really confident. It can be a bit fiddly, and you don't want to cause any more problems. Best bet is to take it to a workshop. At least you know what to tell them now!

Dude, thanks a million! You were spot on. I took it to a mechanic, and it was the PCV valve. Cost me 360€, but she's running like new again. Really appreciate the help!
