Thanks for the quick reply. When you say 'obvious cracks', where should I be looking? I'm not mechanically inclined, but I can usually spot something if I know where to look on the intake manifold.

On the Megane, it was a small crack in one of the hoses connected to the intake manifold itself. It was hard to spot. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of a faulty manifold sensor, it might be best to get it checked by a workshop. Sensor failure can be tricky to diagnose without the proper tools.

I got the Roomster back today. It was the intake manifold pressure sensor, probably from a vacuum leak like I thought. The repair was 235€, sensor and labor included. It runs like new now, thanks for the advice.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, sluggish acceleration, and the fuel consumption went through the roof. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or loose connections around the intake manifold?
