A 2008 Skoda Roomster with a gasoline engine and 158,447 km is experiencing overheating issues. The suspected cause is the electric fan, with potential problems including a defective fan clutch or faulty cable and plug connections. Thanks for the info! I visually checked the radiator fan, and it seems okay, but how can I tell if the electric motor is actually running properly, and how do I inspect the fan clutch? Is there a specific way to test them?

Okay, if you're not sure about testing the electric motor or fan clutch yourself, it might be best to take it to a workshop. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of the electric fan, it is likely a defective cable or plug connection of the component. That sounds like it could be the problem. A mechanic can diagnose that quickly.

Just letting you know it was a faulty cable connection to the electric fan. The workshop charged me 95€ to fix it. Thanks for your help.

Overheating on a Roomster is never good. When was the last time you checked your engine cooling system? First thing I would check would be the radiator fan itself. Is the electric motor running when the engine gets hot? Also, have you inspected the fan clutch? A defective fan clutch can also cause overheating issues. Finally, have you checked the cable and plug connection to the fan itself? If that is defective, the fan will not run.
