Skoda Roomster transmission issues

I have a Skoda Roomster, 2012 diesel, with 141602 km on the clock. Recently, the transmission indicator light comes on, and the check engine light is also lit. The automatic transmission is now stuck in emergency mode, shifts are not as smooth as before, and I'm hearing some grinding noises during gear changes. Also, the gearbox slips sometimes or shifts uncleanly. I scanned for errors, and it points to a radiator oil pressure issue. I'm suspecting a defective cable or plug connection to the component. Anyone had something like this? Repair cost should be around 95€.

Summary of the thread

A Skoda Roomster owner experienced transmission issues, including warning lights, emergency mode activation, grinding noises, and unclean gear shifts. An error scan indicated a radiator oil pressure problem, suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. After replacing a faulty cable to the oil cooler pressure sensor, the transmission issues were resolved, restoring smooth operation.

I had a similar issue with my previous vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia. The symptoms you describe are quite telling. The transmission indicator light and check engine light illuminating simultaneously, coupled with the automatic transmission entering emergency mode and shifting erratically, suggest a possible malfunction within the transmission's control system. In my case, it was a faulty oil cooler. Did you by any chance observe any coolant leak recently, or any sign of car overheating?

Interesting, thanks. No noticeable coolant leak or overheating, but I will double check. Where was the oil cooler located on your Vauxhall, and was it difficult to access the pressure sensor?

The oil cooler in my Insignia was positioned near the radiator, making the pressure sensor reasonably accessible once the undertray was removed. Given your error code and the absence of evident coolant loss or overheating, it is prudent to inspect the wiring and connections meticulously. However, given the complexity of modern automatic transmissions, it might be prudent to consult a qualified technician for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. This will ensure accurate identification of the root cause and mitigation of potential consequential damage.

It was indeed a faulty cable to the oil cooler pressure sensor. Replaced it, and now everything is running smoothly. Thanks for the input.
