Skoda Roomster Transmission Problems

I'm seriously pulling my hair out here! My 2007 Skoda Roomster with a Gasoline engine is giving me major headaches. The engine warning light keeps coming on, and sometimes the transmission light too! The error memory says something about the transmission oil temperature sensor being faulty. It's only done 60964 km! Sometimes the gearbox goes into emergency mode, and other times it slips or shifts really badly. I even hear grinding noises when shifting! I read online that it could be low gearbox oil. Could that be it? Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar overheating problems with my Roomster automatic transmission. Check your transmission oil level first. Could be a faulty oil sensor too.

Oh really? What exactly happened with your Roomster? Was it the same oil sensor issue? How did you figure it out?

Yeah, the symptoms were almost identical. The gear shifting was awful. I wasn't sure what it was, but the workshop guys pinpointed it to the oil sensor and low transmission oil. I'd suggest getting it checked professionally.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on! It was the transmission oil sensor. Turns out the oil level was also low, like you mentioned. They fixed everything for 365€. Runs like a dream now!
