Skoda Scala Defrost Air Distribution Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Skoda Scala owner reported an issue with low heating output and an error related to the defrost air distribution flap. The error memory suggested a defective cable or plug connection as the cause. After considering other potential issues like a failing blower motor resistor or a blocked heater core, it was determined that the connector was indeed faulty. The workshop replaced the connector, resolving the issue, and the heating system returned to normal functionality.

Thanks for the quick reply. The blower motor seems to be working fine on all speeds, and the engine temperature reaches normal operating levels. How would I check if the heater core is partially blocked? Is that something I can easily do myself, or does it require special tools?

Okay, since the engine temp and blower seem fine, a blocked heater core is less likely but still possible. Checking it properly usually involves disconnecting hoses and flushing the core, which can be messy and might require some specific tools. Given the error code specifically mentions the air distribution flap and the low repair cost of 95€, it really does sound like the connector is the issue. If it were me, I'd have a workshop take a look. They can properly diagnose the electrical connection and confirm if that's the only problem before potentially chasing more complex issues with the heater core or the entire temperature regulation system.

The workshop confirmed the error code pointed to a faulty connection in the air distribution flap for the defrost. They replaced the connector, cleared the error, and now the heating works as it should. Total cost was indeed 95€. Thanks for your help!

Low heating output and an error code related to the defrost flap? That does sound like a potential issue with the air distribution system. Have you noticed if the blower motor seems to be working correctly on all speed settings? Sometimes a failing blower motor resistor can cause odd temperature regulation problems. Also, is the engine reaching operating temperature normally? A stuck-open thermostat could also contribute to low heat output, although it wouldn't directly trigger an air distribution flap error. It is possible the cable or plug connection of the component is defective like the error says. But is there any chance the heater core could be partially blocked? That might reduce heat output too.
