Skoda Scala Diesel Cold Start Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Scala with a diesel engine exhibited poor engine performance during cold starts and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a stored error. The suspected cause was a defective electric auxiliary heater, specifically the PTC heater. After consulting a workshop, the diagnosis confirmed the faulty PTC heater, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Indeed, the temperature control was erratic during the warm-up phase. Could you elaborate on the specifics of your experience? Did your Octavia also store an error code related to the heating system?

Yes, the error code was similar. Given the erratic temperature and error codes, consulting a workshop for a definitive diagnosis and potential heater repair is recommended. In my case, it was indeed the auxiliary heater, part of the heating system, that required attention.

I appreciate your input. Following a diagnostic check, the workshop confirmed the PTC heater was faulty. Replacement cost 350€. The issue is now resolved.

I experienced similar symptoms with my Skoda Octavia. The blower motor seemed to struggle initially, especially in colder weather. Was the temperature control also affected?
