Skoda Scala Diesel Engine Stalling at Idle

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2020 Skoda Scala diesel. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the engine stalls at idle. I scanned the error memory, and it indicates "Incorrect fuel composition." The car has 230075 km on it. From what I could gather, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Any ideas?

I had something similar happen with my Skoda Octavia, though mine is older. Check engine light, rough idling... It could be bad fuel quality messing with the combustion chamber. Have you recently changed where you get your fuel? Also, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter? A clogged filter can definitely cause issues with the fuel system and might even lead to engine knock if the fuel delivery is poor.

Interesting. I usually use the same gas station, so I don't think it's the fuel quality, but the fuel filter is a good point. I haven't changed it recently. Could a faulty connection trigger such symptoms?

Yes, a faulty connection could absolutely trigger those symptoms. The ECU is very sensitive. Given the error code, it's quite possible the sensor providing fuel composition data is sending incorrect readings due to a bad connection. If I were you, I'd take it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose the exact cause and check the wiring properly. You don't want to risk damaging the fuel system further.

Just to close this out, the workshop found a defective plug connection, like you said. Repair was 95€. Thanks for the assist!
