Skoda Scala Diesel Fuel Consumption Issue

I'm having some issues with my 2019 Skoda Scala diesel. Lately, I've noticed the fuel consumption is way higher than usual. The engine feels like it's lost some power, and it even stalled a couple of times while idling. Plus, there's some smoke coming out when I accelerate. Any ideas what could be causing this? Could this be linked to a lack of maintenance or to using petrol instead of diesel?

Sounds like you might have a similar problem to what I experienced. I had issues with fuel consumption and the engine stalling. Does your Scala have a rough idle too? Could be something related to the fuel injection.

Rough idle sometimes, yes! So, what exactly was the problem with yours? Was it a big job to fix? Did it affect the Air filter? I am just wondering if it is something I could tackle myself.

Mine had similar symptoms. I wouldn't call it a big job, but it requires specific tools and knowledge. In my case, the cable connection to the injector was defective. I would recommend taking it to a workshop. They will diagnose the issue properly. It could be unsafe to drive with a faulty injection system.

Thanks for the advice! The mechanic found a defective plug connection in the injection system, just as you suspected. Cost me 95€, but it's running smoothly again!
