Skoda Scala Engine Light and Exhaust Issues

I am experiencing some issues with my 2019 Skoda Scala, which has a gasoline engine. The check engine light is illuminated, and I have noticed a reduction in engine power accompanied by higher fuel consumption. I suspect it might be related to the exhaust temperature sensor. Could a leak in the car exhaust system trigger these symptoms, potentially affecting the emission control?

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia. The check engine light kept appearing, and the car felt sluggish. Have you checked for any obvious signs of exhaust leaks? Sometimes you can hear a hissing sound, especially when the engine is cold.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't noticed any hissing sounds, but I'll definitely check more closely. Did you experience increased fuel consumption as well? Was it also the exhaust temperature sensor in your case, or something else related to the emission control?

Yes, I did notice higher fuel consumption. In my case, it was also the exhaust sensor. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of an exhaust leak, it’s probably best to get it checked by a professional. They can accurately diagnose the issue and replace the faulty exhaust sensor. It is worth the expense to guarantee correct sensor replacement.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like it's best to have it checked professionally. I took my Skoda Scala to the workshop, and it turned out to be a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, likely due to a small leak in the exhaust system. The sensor replacement cost me 265€. Now the check engine light is off, and the engine is running smoothly again.
