Skoda Scala Gasoline Engine Issue

I am writing to seek advice regarding a potential issue with my 2020 Skoda Scala, gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light has illuminated, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. Furthermore, I have observed a reduction in engine power. I suspect a defective fuel volume regulator may be the cause, potentially linked to a high pressure pump malfunction. Could this be the reason?

The check engine light and stalling definitely point to a fuel delivery problem. Engine misfire could also happen with this issue. Have you checked the fuel injection system for any obvious leaks or damage? Also, what kind of fuel efficiency are you currently getting?

I have not observed any fuel leaks, but I have also never looked for it. How can I check the fuel injection system? And how is this related to fuel efficiency?

A fuel volume regulator issue stemming from a faulty high pressure pump aligns with the symptoms you describe. Inspecting the fuel injection system involves visually checking the fuel lines and injectors for cracks or dampness, indicating a leak. Reduced fuel efficiency is a common side effect when the fuel system isn't functioning correctly. However, given the symptoms, it would be prudent to take it to a qualified workshop for a thorough diagnosis and repair.

Thank you for your assistance. I took the Scala to a workshop, and they confirmed the high pressure fuel pump was defective. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 1510€. Now it runs as it should.
