Skoda Scala reduced engine power

I'm having an issue with my 2020 Skoda Scala with a gasoline engine. It's showing reduced engine power, and there's an error code stored. It might be a problem with the engine control unit, maybe a defective main relay. Any ideas?

Reduced engine power and stored error codes in a 2020 Skoda Scala gasoline engine often point to ECU problems. The control system might be affected by a faulty relay, as you suspect. Have you checked the relay's connections for corrosion or damage? Automotive electronics can be sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

Can a defective main relay directly cause the engine control unit to malfunction, or are there other potential causes I should consider before replacing the relay? Is there any chance that ECU problems need system reset?

Yes, a defective main relay can cause the ECU to malfunction. It's the main power source for the unit. If it's failing sometimes or not providing a stable voltage, it can trigger ECU problems and store error codes. Other things are possible, but the relay is a good first step. I'd suggest going to a workshop.

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a faulty main relay, just like you said. The repair, including a system reset, was 120€. The car is running fine now.
