Skoda Scala Throttle Concerns

I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2022 Skoda Scala with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. It's got 59029 km on the clock, and I suspect the throttle valve is defective. I'm experiencing higher fuel consumption and the vehicle starts poorly. Could a defective accelerator pedal module be to blame?

That sounds like a frustrating problem. When you say "poor start," could you describe that in more detail? Does the engine idle roughly? It might also be worth checking the throttle position sensor; sometimes, a faulty reading there can cause similar symptoms. It's relatively easy to access and inspect.

Thanks for the reply. The engine idle does seem a little rough, yes. Where exactly is the throttle position sensor located? I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I can usually follow instructions.

Okay, rough engine idle definitely points towards a throttle control valve issue. The throttle body is usually mounted on the intake manifold, close to the air filter box. The sensor is attached to the throttle body itself. However, given that you're experiencing these symptoms and you're not very mechanically inclined, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the necessary parts. It does sound like the pedal module could be the culprit.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the accelerator pedal module causing the throttle valve issue. The repair set me back 205€, but the car is running smoothly again.
