Skoda Superb Diesel Oil Pressure Issue

I'm having issues with my 2011 Skoda Superb diesel with 247515 km. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up and I'm getting a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect it's related to engine oil contamination, possibly due to exceeding the maintenance interval. I've always been diligent about servicing, but life got in the way recently. What do you think?

Oil pressure warning light? That's never good. It sounds like your oil might be sludged up, like thick molasses instead of slippery liquid. First, check your oil level. Is there an oil leak? What does the oil look like? If it's black and gritty, you're overdue for a change. When did you last change your oil filter?

The level is fine, no visible oil leak. The oil color is darker than usual, but not completely black. I'm just wondering, if I had been driving with contaminated oil for a while, could that cause lasting engine damage? Should I be worried?

Darker oil is a sign of contamination. Driving with contaminated oil can definitely lead to engine damage over time, think of it like sandpaper grinding away at the internal parts. It's hard to say how much damage has been done without a proper inspection. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked out. They can assess the problem.

Just to let you know, the maintenance was indeed overdue. I had the oil and oil filter changed. The mechanic said there was some buildup, possibly from using oil additives before. Luckily, no major engine damage. The cost was 165€. Thanks for the help!
