Skoda Superb engine power loss

I've got a bit of a problem with my 2007 Skoda Superb, gasoline engine. Recently, I've noticed the engine power is down, like seriously down. Feels like I'm driving a tractor. Also, there's an error stored in the error memory, according to the garage. They reckon it might be some faulty chip tuning done by a third-party outfit ages ago. Has anyone else had a similar engine issue?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar engine issue with my Superb. Reduced power and the check engine light came on. Did you do a car diagnostic?

Yeah, the 'check engine' light is on alright. I'm not really a car guy; what exactly do you mean by car diagnostic? Is that something I can do myself?

By vehicle diagnostics, I mean using an auto scanner to read the fault code. You can buy a cheap one online, but honestly, it's probably easier to just take it to a workshop. If it is the chip tuning, they should be able to sort it. Good luck!

Huge thanks for your help! I took it to a local guy with an auto scanner, and he confirmed the error. It seems like the previous owner had some chip tuning done that went bad. Cost me 180€ to get it sorted, but at least the check engine light is gone, and the power is back!
